Tribute to a Little White Goat

nanny-min_edited.jpg

We saw a "little white goat" by the side of the road. She had escaped from her barnyard. She was desperately eating weeds. We stopped to make sure she was safe and wouldn't get hit by a car.

We located her owner who admitted she didn't have any hay or food at home. (Wait, what???) We were desperate to help her. We delivered some hay for her and the other barnyard animals as there were no sign of any food for any of the barnyard animals!!!!

We reported this situation immediately.

We knew it was a very-bad-situation for this precious girl and the other barnyard animals. It was so difficult to figure out how to report to make sure there was an investigation. It is in a small NH town. In this town, there is no local law enforcement coverage (just 911) and no local SCPA coverage. Ugh.

The good news: Our reports and follow up resulted in multiple formal investigations by both Law Enforcement and the Dept. of Agriculture.

The bad news: We noticed the little white goat isn't visible in the barnyard. We're devastated Of course we can't ask the owners where she is.

We have called and re-reported that she is no longer visible. We are asking for another investigation for the cows, sheep and dogs that remain on the property - all in dire conditions. We continue watching and reporting again and again. And we're devastated to think that perhaps this little white goat has died from lack of food. We'll never forget her.

"Little white goat's" life mattered and we failed her. She did nothing wrong.

We can do better. We MUST do better!
